Starting Point ...

Hello readers.

I'm Jaclyn Heck, and I'm starting this blog as an assignment for class, but also as a way to track my growth as a script writer. I'm 19 years old, majoring in Media Communication and minoring in Leadership. I love television production, and hope to be a news producer after I graduate.

Media Scriptwriting is a class that will help improve my writing for television and help me reach a level of competency to get a job in a few years. I think this class will be beneficial to me because of all the writing practice I'll get and the quickness I'll need to write at.

Coming up with a place to start is the hardest part of writing for me. I know what I want to say, but I can't always think of the best way to say it. My hesitancy is a hinderance to my writing. My goal is to just start writing immediately so a have a place to work from. I forget sometimes that I don't have to write in order. I get hung up on coming up with a great, creative, catchy lead-in and end up taking two or three times as long to finish my script than I would if I wrote everything I thought should be included first.

My goals for this semester are to become a quicker writer, a more conversational writer, and a more creative writer. Overall, I want to feel more confident in my writing.
